Download these free printable conversation cards for Thanksgiving Dinner to enjoy meaningful discussions with your whole family!
Quite a few years back now, I created some free printable conversation cards for my birthday dinner. I hosted a group of my favourite ladies, friends and family, and although they didn’t all know each other, I wanted to have great discussions and enjoy an extended dinner party.
You know, the kind where you sit long after the meal is over, sharing another bottle of wine, laughing and connecting on a deeper level as the candles burn down. That’s exactly what I love about great dinner parties. And conversation starters can help get things rolling.
We really love them as a family as well. I have four kids 10 and under and we have a pack of Table Topics (conversation starters) on our dinner table for most of our family dinners. We pick out a couple conversation cards each night and it can take even a night of bickering and turn it into a fun discussion or meaningful conversation where we learn something new about our kids.
Today I’m sharing some new free printable thanksgiving conversation starter cards that are perfect for your family time this fall holiday season. There’s 54 different conversation topics or questions plus a page of blanks for you to add your own questions.
The questions range from a Thanksgiving feast itself to things you’re grateful for to thought-provoking questions and even some random topics that might give you a laugh.
They an easy way to get the whole family involved in meaningful discussion with open-ended questions like, ‘what’s your favorite holiday each year and why?’ or a fun way to reminisce on past Thanksgiving dinner memories or younger guests might enjoy the debate, ‘pumpkin pie or apple?’.
This list of questions is perfect dinner conversation starters for adults or kids and are suitable for family members or good friends as well as groups that don’t know eachother as well (maybe extended family!). These easy conversation starters will help you avoid any awkward silence as you serve your thanksgiving meal. They’re really my favorite way to get a group talking the perfect way to make sure everyone (even the new face at the table!) has a wonderful thanksgiving dinner conversation.
Plus… they’re going to look so beautiful on your Thanksgiving Dinner table with simple but elegant conversation card designs.

These printable thanksgiving conversation cards would be so perfect set on a beautiful fall tablescape. Here’s a few they would pair beautifully with!
The deep reds would pair so nicely with this moody maroon and orange fall tablescape I set up outside a couple years ago.
I love how this pinky autumn tablescape, full of natural elements and textures would bring out the purples in these printable conversation cards. Wouldn’t they make a great addition, tucked under each side plate for guests to find?
Lastly, this year’s simple autumn tablescape is full of dried florals and foliage that would play so well with these hand illustrated fall leaves!
You could set a couple of the thanksgiving table topics at each place setting, have them set out in a beautiful dish beside the centrepiece, or even just stack a few at each end of the table for guests to pick from.
You could also use the blank conversation cards to create name cards for each guest, then add a couple of the free thanksgiving conversation starters underneath the name card. When we’ve done this with a larger group in the past, they get to look through their cards and choose their own different question from the stack so they’re comfortable with the topic.
Not thanksgiving dinner you’re looking for conversation cards for? You can just pull out the few that are more Thanksgiving themed and use the rest! They still make for amazing conversation.

How to Print These Conversation Cards
PDF documents are so easy to print off and don’t need any fancy printer settings like photos would.
I created a cozy autumn leaves pattern (using these fall leaves illustrations) for the back side of these free printable thanksgiving conversation starters and recommend having them printed double sided on card stock.
Most of the time, I like to print my own printables at home, but for doublesided cardstock, especially this ink-heavy of a design, I recommend having them printed at a local print shop.
