Modern Outdoor Patio Furniture shopping guides for both a deck lounge area and patio dining area.
As we’re working away on the exterior of our house, I’m getting more and more excited to furnish our patios! Last week I shared the design board and plans for our exterior makeover. We started on it last year but ran into some road blocks. Last year we stripped the house of siding, dealt with the issues, and tore down our old decks and built some new ones. Phew! Not to mention the work we did inside, like our entry, my office, and the boys bedroom. Anyways… we’re doing our siding on the back of the house first. At this point… we’ve been the ‘under construction’ house on the street for over a year- what’s another month or two?
So we’re focusing our time in the backyard so we can start enjoying this nicer weather to the fullest. We can’t wait to eat dinners out here and lounge out here with morning coffee. Especially with all the extra time we’ve had at home lately, I just can’t wait! Additionally- we’ve been dealing with a flood and the restoration inside our house (all. new. floors.) so having an outdoor sanctuary will be such a nice retreat from the chaos of inside. So while Shane works away on the siding, I’m picking some modern outdoor patio furniture! Quite literally… he’s cutting siding 6 feet away from me while I sit on our bottom, brick patio. I promise, I’ll get up and help him again once I hit publish ;)
Our old patios were such strange shapes and sizes that we couldn’t fit even a dinner table that fit our family. The top deck had angles making it big enough for two chairs and the wooden deck had two levels as if it used to house a hot tub but since it didn’t any more- both of the levels were too small to use for any seating. When we tore those out, we found rotten beams and a BUNCH of things hidden under the wooden deck. Like not one but two hot tub covers. We rebuilt the upper deck larger- straightening it out into a rectangle. We rebuilt the lower deck all one level. Now we’ll have space for an outdoor lounge area and an outdoor dining area!. Now for the fun part… picking outdoor furniture!
I’ve partnered with Article to put together a few designs for each of the spaces (see all my policies here). I have a personal favourite, but I’m going to show these to Shane to see which one he likes the best before I show him my picks. They’re really all so lovely – I’d be thrilled with any of them. Also- these designs include everything. I know we’ll be scaling back but I got a bit carried away with the photoshop ;) It’s fun to dream, right?!
UPDATE! We’ve finished the spaces! See the dining space HERE and the lounge space HERE.
