One peek outside and the snow will tell you that spring is still a little ways off, but the weather guy says it’s coming and now my mantel does too. Today I’m excited to partner with some amazing bloggers to share our spring mantels with you guys. BIG thank you to my friend Krista from The Happy Housie for putting this all together! You can see them all at the bottom of this post, but holy smokes these ladies can decorate! As for my mantel? After the holidays and a long winter, spring is all about fresh and clean and minimal to me… so that’s what I went with!
There’s black and white, hand lettered and greenery… all of my favourite things. This is actually the first time that I’ve felt really excited about this view. I shared my holiday mantel at Christmas time, but I hadn’t gotten to painting the green stub wall white and that really bugged me. Now that it’s a fresh white (as of this weekend!), I’m so much happier with this whole scene. I have some plans for this fire place, but for now… it’s perfect.
Okay… I can’t help but talk about my plans, because THAT’S WHO I AM. I brightened the photo up so hopefully you can’t tell but the brick is painted a really creamy white… which is totally great but now that our walls are white, it looks dirty. I want to freshen that up with some nice bright white paint and I would love, love to swap that mantel for a chunky wood one like my girl Andrea from Harlow and Thistle. I’d also love to either paint that tan tile or replace it altogether… and if we’re getting really big picture dreaming, I want to find out if you can switch fireplace inserts… wouldn’t that be awesome?! I honestly don’t even know if that’s a thing. The logs in there are just fine. But now I’ve stared at it for so long that I need to do some googling.
Moving on to the decor ;) I started with what I have and love… and use every season ;) This hand lettered quote I made a couple years ago and still love it. The black on white with wood frame is right up my lane and the quote is such a good reminder. The second thing is the letterboard! I still love this thing. I love that just by switching some letters around, I’m ready for a new season. Or a fun occasion. Or to make my husband laugh when he gets home from work. Plus… it’s black and white and wood too! The quote I chose this time around is from Robin Williams, ‘Spring is nature’s way of saying: let’s party!’. Those two pieces have been on my mantel since we moved here and since our last house.
From there… I added what I always add for eeeevery season! Seasonal greenery! Spring is kind of an easy one because anything green goes. Since you can see our kitchen right behind the fireplace and the cabinets are a muted olive colour, I wanted the greenery to be muted too. The eucalyptus is perfect for this… plus it’s an all time fave of mine. If you haven’t ever bought eucalyptus before OR if you’re wondering what the different kinds are, I actually wrote a post and made a video all about just that.
I really love how the black vases valance all the white and light green colours. They anchor the decor and balance the black fireplace. The only other thing on there is a large faux succulent that I spotted at the florist when I was picking up eucalyptus. I LOVE IT! I have a couple tiny ones but this one is so large and beautiful. I can’t keep succulents alive for some reason so this is a nice alternative!
That’s it! I love to keep it simple- there’s something so refreshing and peaceful about clear surfaces and for me… my spring mantel is no different!
Today I’m joined by a fabulous group of blogging friends who are also sharing their Spring Mantel or a Springy Vignette in their home as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Spring Series! You’re going to love all this springy inspiration…

Okay, first off that Mother Theresa quote is one of my all time favorites. I love that it serves as a focal point in your home. LOVE! Second, I am so grateful that you serve as a reminder that things don’t have to be overdone to be special. I saw a few other bloggers images in advance and felt like I needed to add more…And, I did. I wish I would have seen your stunning mantel to balance things out…Darn decorating FOMO totally got me this time.

Aw thanks so much Tauni! I totally do that too and I’m trying really hard to keep the less is more this year :)
