Today I’m so excited to be joining in on another home tour. And like Monday (I shared my mantel!), I’m not sharing much of my home… because it’s under construction ;) BUT we finished Aubrey’s bedroom for the fall One Room Challenge so it was exciting for her (and me!) to decorate a little girls bedroom for the holidays for the first time ever. If you didn’t catch Aubrey’s room reveal, you can check that out right here– but this is the first time she’s ever not shared with her brothers (she’s a boy/girl twin) so has always had gender neutral bedrooms and decor. The biggest thing she wanted was pink and we ran with that all the way to the Christmas section. This actually was really easy to pull together and cost hardly anything. That’s the awesome thing about moving to a new house is you have no ‘but that goes HERE every year’ issue with moving decor into new rooms. This room tour is part of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas series of home tours that my lovely friend Krista from The Happy Housie hosts. You can find all the beautiful homes and rooms in the series at the bottom of this post. So if pink ain’t your thing… scroll, baby, scroll ;)
We didn’t have a tree for her room but had a little one for the boys room. I’d promised her I’d get her one but of course left it to the VERY last minute and took her shopping December 1st and there were no mini trees. This was the smallest unless we wanted one that would go on your nightstand or desk (which she was not going for). She hauled it to the check out all on her own to prove that it wasn’t too big (she’s darn cute doing it too). So now she very happily has a four foot pre-lit multicolour tree in her room. She plugs it in every morning (I unplug it when she goes to school) and every evening, she plugs it back in to fall asleep by the lights (again, we turn it off for her). I can’t get over how much she loves her room and taking care of it since we designed it for her. And now that there’s Christmas in there, it is honestly just so magical.
So as far as decorations… we decorated the tree (of course!). Every year we make a ton of paper snowflakes to decorate our windows as one of our advent activities so we made some for her tree as well. I had the pom pom trim that I’d bought to add on to curtains years ago and never did. It makes such a cute garland! The flowers are leftover from the mobile I made for this sweet nursery and the tree skirt is just a sheepskin rug we had wrapped around the base. So for decorations, I bought three sprays of those furry balls (they remind me of cindy lou who!) and a wool star from Michales and one pink glittery spray from the dollar store (that we broke up into all the little ones you see here).
Other than the tree, we added a few small touches, but nothing crazy. The penguin pillow I made for her last year and the ‘Santa Stop Here’ pennant is one I had in the kids’ room last year as well. It’s from my shop and its going to be a staple in our decor for probably ever. I really love it. I also made that wreath last year for the kids bedroom (we did a fun room makeover for the holidays for them last year- you can see it here!) and the nutcracker is one we gave her years ago. I bought a pack of those silver sparkly bottle brush trees for her from the dollar store. This seemed like a great idea and they’re super cute but they are SO DARN GLITTERY. Like… glitter everywhere. But they’re cute. And maybe you’re not such a grinch about glitter.
I’ve said in almost every single one of my home tours in the past (you know… when I did full home tours, back before this remodel!) that I LOVE letterboards and chalkboards because they are always the same style but easy to make seasonal just by changing up the phrase. I was also planning to switch out some of the art on her ledge for some festive art, but decided to photograph it before she got home from school to make some art because making art makes mess and I’d already cleaned the room. You can’t win them all… right?! Festive art to come ;) Other than that, we sprinkled a couple ornaments throughout the room. On her shelves, on the window ledge (the boys and I made those clothespins ones as a surprise for her- boys love using their ‘super hulk strength’ to break clothespins apart), hanging off picture frames, and leaning on the nightstand… I mean, put an ornament anywhere you can because it’s festive, okay?!
You guys… that’s pretty much it! It’s so simple and even though it wasn’t a LOT to do, it really makes the room feel so cozy for the holidays. She’s in love with it and so am I and that’s all that matters. I have a few more photos of the space I want to share but then make sure to check out all the other beautiful room and home tours below! And if you’re looking for more peeks inside my home for the holidays, I’m probably not going to get to doing a full blog post before Christmas BUT I will definitely share some bits on Instagram! Are you following me there yet?

So pretty!! She must be dying over having her own Christmas tree! And probably rearranging your ornaments and adding new ones, lol. It’s beautiful :)
Krista
Wow! She’s one lucky girl to have such a pretty room and her very own Christmas tree! Thank you for sharing and being apart of the house tour Colleen.
