Celebrate Dad with customized crafts using your Cricut or Silhouette and these 3 free Father’s Day SVG files- best dad ever, best father ever, and best grandpa ever with a tools theme (perfect for the DIY dad!).
Father’s Day is just around the corner, and what better way to show your love and appreciation than with personalized gifts? The most professional way to do this at home is hands-down with a Cricut or Silhouette.
In this blog post, we’re thrilled to share three fun tool-themed SVG files that will make your Father’s Day crafts truly special. These free SVG cut files for Cricut will help you create unique wooden signs and simple DIY cards that Dad will love.
I’ve created 3 options for these free SVG files for Father’s Day. You can find a best dad ever SVG paired with a hammer, a best grandpa ever SVG paired with a saw blade and a best father ever SVG paired with a hand saw. As someone who loves tools almost as much as my dad, these were so much fun to create.
These designs are totally versatile too. Whether you’re creating a custom wooden sign or adding it to a Father’s Day card, you’re dad will feel pretty special. Here’s some DIY Father’s Day ideas we have created!

DIY Father’s Day Sign
Use iron-on vinyl and your Cricut Maker to bring this design to life on a wood sign. Pair it with the text “Est. 2013” to commemorate the year your family began to make it extra personal. I like this in a dark blue vinyl but the black one is really fun as well.
This wood sign is just from the dollar store and the free father’s day SVG is ironed on to the back to make a framed look. The front looks like a wooden panel sign. You could also create your own rustic sign with wood panels or build from scratch with plywood and a 1×2 frame.
This tool themed ‘Best Grandpa Ever’ wood sign is perfect for dad to add in to his workshop or man cave.
DIY Best Dad Ever Card
These three free father’s day SVGs also make a great ‘best father ever’ handmade card. To create a background layer of cardstock with your cricut, just duplicate the design then create an offset (option in the top panel) and then contour the inside lines (option in the right hand panel) in Cricut Design Space.
The material I find the absolute easiest for making cards is adhesive backed cardstock. It is like cardstock stickers once you cut with your Cricut. I like to layer either using this or regular card stock with double sided tape but glue would also work.
DIY Best Grandpa Ever Shirt
You could also make a shirt with these free tool themed father’s day SVGs. We made a shirt a few years back that says ‘best dad ever’ so we didn’t choose to use the SVG for that this year, but since an SVG file is so versatile, you could use it to make anything. Just use iron-on vinyl– I love to make pocket tees where the design just goes where a pocket typically would.

HOW DO I UPLOAD A FREE Cut File TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE?
Once you’ve downloaded your free hand lettered SVG files, it’s time to upload them to your cutting machine software. I use my Cricut to cut out my SVG files, but you could also use your Silhouette or other brand of cutting machine. To upload an SVG file to Cricut Design Space is super straight forward.
Open up Cricut Design Space and start a new project. In the left hand panel, select ‘upload’ and search for your file. You can add a name to your file at this point then upload it and insert it into your project. That’s it.
The SVG file has all the layers separated for you and Cricut reads all that information for you.
If you’re new to uploading your own images to Cricut and would like more information on the different types of files you can cut with your Cricut, this video walks you through all the different types and how to upload them to Cricut Design Space to use them in your projects.
* Are you new to Cricut? Or deciding which machine to buy? I wrote a whole post about the differences between the Cricut machines RIGHT HERE. And if you’re looking for more Cricut projects and tutorials, you can find them all here!
