It’s been a couple years since I shared the most fun baby shower ever– a Mexican fiesta, complete with margaritas and a piñata. But a couple months back I got a sweet email from a reader who was throwing a fiesta baby shower of her own but for a baby boy. She loved the printable fiesta scattergories I’d designed and asked if I could make a version that was more dude-ish (she didn’t use that term- that’s all me). I thought it would be fun to share it with you all now that Cinco de Mayo is coming up!
I am a sucker for printable party games because they’re such simple ice breakers. You just hand them out and hit go- no one feels on the spot when they don’t know anyone else and the fun part is when you start reading your answers. Here’s a copy/ paste from the original post that explains how the game works:
So basically the way baby Scattergories works is everyone gets a card and you set the timer for four minutes (one for each column if you’d rather). Everyone scrambles to write down as many items as they can think of that match the category to the left of the line, starting with the letter at the top of the column. Seems pretty basic but when there’s a timer running you will totally blank. It’s pretty funny to listen to the panic as the timer gets close to running out.
Fun, right!? So to make it easy you can download both the boy and girl versions here: BOY VERSION / GIRL VERSION. They print two to a page and are best printed on a nice thick cardstock. OH. And if you have never played the original Scattergories board game… you probably should- it’s one of my faves!
