This free welcome SVG file is perfect for pet-friendly homes with a paw print as the o! This Dog Welcome SVG is totally free for your Cricut Crafting and makes a perfect door mat!
I’m such a fan of custom door mats, if you’ve been following along with Lemon Thistle for any amount of time, I’m sure you’ve seen these hand lettered coir door mats I love to make! I love to freehand mine, but I’ve been asked for some patterns.
So this month when a group of talented SVG designers got together for a pet themed SVG collab… I thought it was the perfect opportunity to create a welcome door mat SVG file for you pet lovers! You can see all the designs at the bottom of this post- there’s some awesome pet SVGs in here!
I shared a hand lettered pet door mat I made for my sister’s patio a couple years back and that one is probably your favourite (if we’re looking at social media comments!) so today I’ve made a dog welcome SVG for you to download and use in your own Cricut projects to welcome people (and dogs!) to your home!
While you can cut this welcome SVG out of vinyl, I’d still suggest using my proven technique to apply the paint to your coir door mat. I love how this holds up, does not bleed and overall is just so so good. Cutting this out as a stencil will help you get the exact layout you want and no free-handing necessary.

Some other ideas of things you can make with this dog welcome SVG?
Not looking for door mats? You could totally make other projects with these free SVG cut files as well! Since this one says ‘welcome’ with the paw print, it makes sense for an entryway (this is my entryway in the photos).
Or a pup birthday party welcome sign… because, how cute! It would also be a great welcome sign for small businesses that want to make it clear dogs welcome.
A wreath with a wooden welcome banner (just iron on to the wood with HTV instead of draw!), a dogs door hanger, a welcome sign for the entryway (maybe a round wood sign?!), a door mat (of course!) a decal for your mail box or front door… or for above the doggy door.
OR… this is super cute, a sign for the dog house.
Really, if you can dream it up… this SVG file is perfect for your pet friendly Cricut, Silhouette, and Brother Scanncut crafting projects! There’s so many fun dog friendly front door decor ideas that you could create!
If you’re new to SVG files and wanting to make your own dog welcome mats, wall art or other crafts with these files, you can see a great introduction to uploading your own files to Cricut Design Space as well as a good overview of different file types (like SVG files!) here. You can also see a tutorial to make your own DIY welcome mats here.
* Are you new to Cricut? Or deciding which machine to buy? I wrote a whole post about the differences between the Cricut machines RIGHT HERE. And if you’re looking for more Cricut projects and tutorials, you can find them all here!

HOW DO I UPLOAD A FREE Cut File TO CRICUT DESIGN SPACE?
Once you’ve downloaded your free welcome sign SVG file, it’s time to upload it to your cutting machine software. I use my Cricut to cut out my SVG files, but you could also use your Silhouette or other brand of cutting machine. To upload an SVG format file to Cricut Design Space is super straight forward.
Open up Cricut Design Space and start a new project. In the left hand panel, select ‘upload’ and search for your downloaded file. You can add a name to your file at this point (like Dog Welcome SVG, Paw)… this makes it easy to find in your uploads!
Then upload it and insert it into your project. That’s it Cricut reads all that information (like the transparent background) for you. You can see in the above screenshot I’m making mats with a few of the designs in my full bundle.
If you’re new to uploading your own images to Cricut and would like more information on the different types of files you can cut with your Cricut, this video walks you through all the different types and how to upload them to Cricut Design Space to use them in your projects.
If you use this SVG to create something amazing… I would SO love to see! You can tag me @colleenpastoor on Instagram or shoot me an email colleen(at)lemonthistle(dot)com!
