**While I’m busy welcoming a new baby into our home *woohoo!* I’m having some of my blogging friends step in and share some rad posts with you all. Please give them some love and enjoy their creative ways!**
Hello everyone! My name is Dawn from Not Just A Mommy; I love all things entertaining, crafts and design and that’s what I blog about. I’m thrilled to be here, sharing an unconventional color scheme for Valentine’s Day…neon! I know, it’s all about the pastels and red hearts and lace, but I’m a big fan of mixing things up.
I love to show my readers multiple possibilities when I style a party so they don’t always necessarily scream a theme! Not only does this work for Valentine’s Day, it could be the scene for an engagement party or just-because-I-love-you.
I am currently obsessed with using my bar cart as much as I can at my parties. If you don’t have one, you must make it your New Year’s resolution to get one! It is a perfect mini buffet on wheels and serves as pretty storage when not in party use. Unfortunately, mine is from Target and is no longer available but you may stumble across it on clearance at your store or keep an eye out for one at places like HomeGoods.
I love using different types of paper like wrapping paper or butcher paper as party backdrops. I headed out to my favorite dollar store and picked up a few neon items like sticker dots and cardstock.
I used a heart punch to cut out lots of shapes from the cardstock to create a simple banner on black cardstock flags. There are other fun ways to use your hearts; I attached a few to mini clothespins for our treat bag toppers or turn them into cupcake toppers by hot-gluing them to lollipop sticks.
A few sweets are always a plus at any type of gathering and make things easy for yourself…everything here is store bought. It just takes a little extra to make them super special. We love ice cream sundaes and topped with fun syrups options, whipped cream and sprinkles, they are party ready.
Mini cupcakes get a little makeover with giant quins while our powdered doughnuts get a makeover with Sno-Balls. Yup, a little smear of vanilla frosting to sandwich them together and finished off with a washi-tape topped skewer…I call them Sno-nuts.
I love using tissue balls and fans for party decor…here, they pile up pretty on our cart. I love to score mine from online shops like Shop Sweet Lulu and Oh Happy Day.
I hope you have been inspired to put a twist on your Valentine’s Day celebration! If you are looking for another color palette twist, check out my Color Of Love table and free printables.
