There’s still time for ONE last Halloween DIY… isn’t there? Especially when it’s this quick and simple. If you were around when I shared my Friendsgiving tablescape from this year, you would have spotted these adorable mini casper pumpkins. I’m in love with them- especially at $1 each. But since Canadian Thanksgiving has come and gone, I thought they should get a spooky treatment before Halloween! This is about as spooky as I get you guys. These little gold leaf jack-o-lanterns are dressing up my kitchen open shelving right now and I can’t get over how cute they are.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own gold leaf mini jack-o-lantern pumpkins:
- Mini Boo or Casper Pumpkins (the white ones)
- Liquid Gold Leaf (I used ‘Classic Gold’)
- Thin Paint Brush
Before you do anything with your pumpkins, give them a good clean with warm soapy water and a cloth. They’ll last longer, the paint will stick better, and they’ll just look more awesome. Then… get this, you paint the jack-o-lantern faces on. That’s it. I know, I didn’t even need to give you the directions but I couldn’t help it. Can we talk about the Liquid Gold Leaf for a minute though? I’m loving this stuff. Real gold leaf intimidates me. I’m not a patient crafter and the idea of a sticky mess that costs more than dollar store glitter doesn’t thrill me. But liquid gold leaf? Paint it on… and you get the same awesome shine. The finish is a bit different, but I really can’t say enough how awesome it is.
Do you have any last minute DIYs on the go before Halloween? I still have costumes to do… *sigh* mini pumpkins are just so much more fun than sewing you guys!

I love this idea. The gold gives the white pumpkins the right amount of glam and sparkle.
