Boho DIY Tassel Ornaments

Craft these boho inspired DIY tassel ornaments for your Christmas tree in a few minutes with this simple tutorial!

These boho DIY tassel ornaments are a simple craft to give your Christmas tree a bit of boho flair or they make beautiful gift toppers for kraft paper packages! They’re simple to make using dollar store supplies as well!

I made these tassel ornaments a couple different ways- using thread vs embroidery thread and round leather cord vs suede cord just to play. You can really switch it up as much (or as little) as you like.

Simple DIY Tassel Ornaments for a boho inspired christmas tree

These ornaments are so sweet, my son decided he wanted them for his bedroom tree this year so we made a couple more for him to have. If you’re not into glitz and glitter for your holiday decor, these simple scandi DIY tassel ornaments are perfect for you!

To make these DIY Tassel Ornaments, you’ll need:

white thread or embroidery thread for the tassel
gold thread or string to wrap the tassel
scissors
wood beads
leather cord for hanging

All of these supplies came from my local dollar stores.

These are super simple to make. The first step is to make the tassels. I make the tassels by wrapping the string around my hand until it feels thick enough to make a cute little tassel. Slide it off your hand and tie one end with the gold string.

It is probably easier to thread your leather cord for hanging through before taking the thread off your hand, but I didn’t so… do as you wish ;)

Cut the loop on one end of the wrapped string to create a tassel. You can trim it nice and straight after this.

Then go ahead and string your leather cord through the tassel top, threading two wooden beads onto it. Tie it off, leaving room to hang on the cord and these DIY tassel ornaments are good to go! SO simple, right? And so much boho texture for your holiday decor.

I will definitely be making more of these tassel ornaments for my gift toppers when I get to wrapping this year! I’m a last minute wrapper so I’ll probably do that the week before Christmas ;)
