Earlier this week I tweeted that I love my Brushed Nickel Mini Pumpkins but that they are ALL that we have that’s ‘fall’ in this house. Thanksgiving here has come and gone and I have nothing else that’s seasonal in my home. I’m disappointed about it… but really this year, there just isn’t enough time in the day. So instead of getting down (what good would that do?) I’ve pulled together some of my favourite autumn decorations that I’ve seen around the web (this year and years past). So let’s get jealous together and admire, okay?
Oh, so I should prepare you… I’m not a big orange and brown decorations for fall type girl. Nah, I’ll leave those. I love the colours of fall outside- it’s rich and beautiful and makes me want to cozy up inside. But I’d prefer to keep the inside of my home more neutral for fall. Then I can do fun things like have a purple flowers at my Thanksgiving Table. Anyways. So here are 6 ideas to get your home fall ready (without all the orange).
Oh guys, these candles are so good. Do they look familiar to you? They do to me… I posted a very similar photo last year. But mine were purchased! I have always thought about making more but have been putting it off. Jeanne from Cozy Stylish Chic makes it look SO easy (and I happen to have the right drill bit), so it definitely needs to happen… next year. I should pull mine out but they’re in my Christmas bins and buried in the back of our storage. Now that I’ve seen how good they look as fall decor, they’ll be saved from the Christmas bins for next year.
You may or may not know that I have a bit of a crush on the style over at The Merry Thought. Well, Caitlin is now writing for Poppy Talk, so when I saw these Foliage Pumpkins, it’s no wonder I fell in love! I love how bold the patterns could be… and they manage to use typical fall things (pumpkins and leaves) in a way that doesn’t make me roll my eyes. And I roll my eyes a lot.
Also on Poppy Talk (clearly I have another style crush), Rachel from The Crafted Life shared these Copper Foil Branches… aren’t they gorgeous!? Why not class up some sticks and throw them in a vase? If they look this gorgeous, no one will ask why you have a stick collection. I may or may not have a stick collection (also from this home tour).
Speaking of copper (what an awesome metallic for fall!), Rebecca from The Crafted Sparrow created this gorgeous copper leaf specimen art. She used her fancy Cricut machine (put it on my wishlist), but since I don’t have one… If I were to try it out next year I’d probably try spray painting leaves found (kind of like I did for the Leaf Notes– but not with clear). It’s such a fun idea.
So I know what you are thinking- you tell us you’re posting all neutrals… then this!? Stay with me. the idea is obviously genius. So why not change the colour? I’ve pinned this Colour Dyed Wheat Wreath and am thinking next year I want to try it with white. It really kills me to say next year. I want to do it now, but I’m trying to learn my limits. We’re hosting a Halloween Party and I need to save some time to decorate for that. Anyways, Victoria over at A Subtle Revelry is constantly coming up with fun, colourful projects- so if colour is your thing… I suggest making friends with her blog.
Last but not least is this Be Grateful Pallet Art from Becky at Infarrantly Creative. *Sigh* How about an #honestymoment… I disassembled a pallet this summer and the pieces are STILL sitting beside my house. I think something like this would be peeeerfect for my home. Maybe, since this one could stay up year round- I could justify the time to put it together? Maybe…
So those are my 6 dream DIYs to get my house Autumn-ready. What do you have your eye on? Or are you a superstar and have your house decorated with more than just mini pumpkins? I’d love to see- post a link!
PS. Just a note about round-ups… I love them and they’re fun to put together and check out on other blogs. The only thing to keep in mind is that other than the ’round up’ image/collage board, if you’re going to pin- please go to the original source and pin from there. That would make all us bloggers so very happy. Thanks, friends :)

ah, colleen! so many good ideas. this post is better than searching for fall-inspired ideas on pinterest. i’m loving the cricut-cut fall leaf design (and what do you know, i just got a machine!), the dyed-wheat is gorrrgeous, and i have plans to make a pallet artwork similar to the ‘be grateful’ you have here (i’m gonna use your DIY pallet board post as a guide). ALSO!!! i was thinking last night about how i’m like the girl that makes NYE resolutions to start going to the gym, buys a membership, and then never shows up for the workout. How have I not send any thankful mail yet? Please don’t judge me!

‘Better than Pinterest’ I’ll take it! Plans and aspirations are funny that way, aren’t they? There’s so many things I want to do! So no judgement- I’m that person too :) Can’t wait to see your #thankfulmail on social media when you get to it!
