Happy Friday! Earlier this week on Instagram stories, I shared one of my favourite DIYs in our home and got SO many messages about how they didn’t know it was a DIY or missed that post or whatever and I realized that there are probably a lot of DIYs that haven’t been seen in a while! I mean… I’ve been blogging for 5 years now (it will be 6 this summer!) and have made over our entire last house the DIY way and we are working our way through another one right now. That’s a LOT of DIYs.
So today I teamed up with my girls from Modern Handmade Home and we are each sharing 10 of our favourite DIYs for the home. That means FORTY modern DIYs for your home… rad, right?! I link to all their posts at the bottom, but let’s get into my 10 picks!
TOP TO BOTTOM/LEFT TO RIGHT:
DIY THIN SHELF / LEDGE
So I’ve thought a lot about making another one of these for our new entry way because it’s so darn handy (and beautiful!) without taking up any space at all. This DIY ledge shelf is simple to make and is the perfect solution for cramped entryways like this one in our last house. Read More…
LIVE EDGE TABLE WITH STEEL BASE
Of all the DIYs we have in our home, this one is probably my favourite. By a mile. I’m in love with this modern live edge table. From the look of it to how it’s aging with our family with dents and scratches that will tell our story over time. It’s giant so fits all of our family and I never feel the need to pull out a tablecloth anymore (even at Christmas- sorry, Mom!). Read More…
LEATHER SLIPCOVERED STORAGE OTTOMAN
I said this on Instagram earlier this week but this is probably my *smartest* DIY to date. Underneath that beautiful leather ottoman is an old ripped faux leather storage ottoman. You know the one- you could buy one at every store in 2007. And what if I told you that leather was FREE. Yeah. Read More…
DIY ACRYLIC FRAMES
I didn’t want to confuse you with the photo for this one- so I put in two… ha! I made these DIY acrylic frames for Windsor’s nursery forever ago and loved them so much that I made another one when we created a mini mudroom at the bottom of our split level stairs! That photo looked better in the collage but won’t be found in the DIY post ;) Read More…
DIY WOODEN BATH CADDY
This poor bath caddy hasn’t been getting any love since we moved… I miss our renovated bathroom! This bath caddy is SO darn simple to make and while you’re making one for yourself, you should probably go ahead and make one for every person on your Christmas shopping list now because they’re going to ask for one. Read More…
DIY IN-WALL DRAWERS FOR THE ENTRY
Did you spot these in that little ledge post? This space is just so full of DIY! These drawers were the answer to our cramped split level entry storage problem. Tripping over shoes, no room for a closet, and NO storage for a family of 6 just wasn’t going to cut it. These drawers held all of our shoes and then some. Read More…
DIY MOULDING WALL
Ahhh a DIY from our new home! This moulding wall is everything I was dreaming of and went up in an afternoon. I talk through the math, the materials, and show how we did it! Also… black paint is just so darn good. Read More…
DIY TEXTILE ART
Oh heyyy another from our new home! I just shared this one last week but I’ve had it in my house for almost 6 months now and still stare at it while I’m making my coffee thinking about how much I love it. This is simple to make and is such a perfect neutral piece of art. Read More…
DIY WOODEN COUNTERTOPS
When we made over our laundry room (a concrete box!) in our last house, one of the things I was set on having was countertops for work surface (and to keep socks from falling down between the washer and dryer! But it just wasn’t in the budget to BUY new countertops for a laundry room. We made these wooden ones from 2x6s – such a steal! Read more…
DIY HAND LETTERED PLYWOOD CUTOUT
I had to sneak one hand lettering post in here! This is an older one but I still love this thing. I’m hoping it will find a home in the new boys bedroom when we makeover that space this spring! Read More…
Alright…. that’s my 10! *cough* 11 *cough*
