Making decorations for the holidays is one of my favourite reasons to get making. There’s nothing like the holiday spirit to make me want to get my craft on! I rounded up 13 of my favourite past holiday DIYs to share with my e-mail list this week and thought I’d share it with you as well. If you aren’t already on my e-mail list, you should probably hop to it ;) Every week I share special announcements, round ups and exclusive freebies- plus access to discounts on all my products and courses! You can get your name in RIGHT HERE.
Alright, now for these holiday DIYs. I’ve done A BUNCH you guys. I tried to narrow it down to my top dozen favourite but as I was making the graphic, there was totally a room for a thirteenth… so I went for that. I’m in love with all of these projects, you guys. And when you make things as much as I do- you get over things pretty quickly. But these ones are still faves in my mind. And they’re almost all still out in my home (except the ones that, y’know… have died. Like the greenery or due to my kids being hurricanes). Ready for my picks?
From Left to Right, Top to Bottom:
ONE: This photo doesn’t do it justice but this christmas tree wooden sign has the most gorgeous metallic foils that shine in the christmas lights from the tree. I’m totally obsessed with how the foils turned out with that brush stroke texture!
TWO: Falala! This banner is WOOD and you don’t need any power tools to make it. Done and done. It’s hanging out in my holiday wreath this year.
THREE: I just shared the DIY for these wooden star place cards and they are topping the list as one of my fave holiday decor items. They’d be perfect for gift tags or ornaments as well!
FOUR: This tree stamped pillow is one of the DIYs that has died… but I used it until it was literally falling apart. We didn’t put it away after the holidays and my sewing wasn’t the best. BUT I did go and revive it in my holiday product line this year because I wanted to have it again!
FIVE: If you love the trend towards flocked greenery as much as I do but don’t want to shell out the cash to replace all your decor… you’ll love this DIY! It will cost you only a couple bucks to update the greenery you have with beautiful faux flocking! Also tartan on flocking? A deadly combo.
SIX: This minimal wreath is HIDING somewhere in my storage. I can’t find it anywhere! I’m hoping Shane will be able to find it for me this weekend so I can add some springs of greenery to it and get it hanging. This DIY cost next to nothing and it’s one of my favourite wreaths we own.
SEVEN: It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Are you singing the song yet? I made this engraved wooden sign this year and already am planning to make another that isn’t holiday lyrics for our home to have out year round. The natural wood contrast is beyond gorgeous in person.
EIGHT: Okay, so I have a thing for wooden stars and hand lettering. But they’re just so good together! These wooden star ornaments are scandi inspired and DONE start to finish in like 10 minutes. What’s not to love?
NINE: You guys know how much I love my seasonal greenery! A couple years ago I did this little video with our local TV station on how I like to arrange it (I do two different arrangements) if you’re wanting to try something new!
TEN: This is one of my first attempts at handlettering NOT on paper. Honestly… it was before I even really could handletter on paper. BUT it’s still one of my favourite projects to date. And proudly displayed in my kitchen right now!
ELEVEN: Speaking of handlettering on things that are NOT paper? Last year I shared how to transfer my designs to make holiday lightbox inserts… which are currently hanging out in my kids bedroom!
TWELVE: I’m a sucker for a modern lettered garland. Plus this one is felt and glittery soooo it’s pretty much awesome.
THIRTEEN: Last but not least… I’m loving all the handlettered holiday ornaments I’m seeing out there so I made my own for gifts a few years ago! I want to make them again now that my lettering style has changed so much though!
