Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich. Plus Six Gooey Peanut Butter Recipes!

Jan 23

Did you know tomorrow is National Peanut Butter Day? Neither did I, but I’m excited to celebrate it! Since I cut out dairy (short term), I’ve been craving sweet creamy treats. But… without cheese or chocolate- I was missing something ooey gooey. Enter peanut butter. But, do you know how many recipes out there use both peanut butter and chocolate?! Lots.

Here’s six recipes I found that skip the chocolate. Lots of them use bananas too (is there a better combination?). Plus, I made one of my own- a grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich!

Decadent and Delicious Peanut Butter Recipes

1. PB and Banana Breakfast Bake: Butter Versus Burpees; 2. Peanut Butter Swirl Banana Bread: Simply Delicious; 3. Peanut Butter Granola: Shape Magazine; 4. No-Bake Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars: Chocolate Covered Katie; 5. Peanut Butter and Banana Pancakes: Fitness Magazine; 6. Peanut Butter Popcorn: A Cozy Kitchen

When I was in elementary school, my friends and I used to sit in the backyard with a tube of soda crackers, jar of peanut butter, and cinnamon. We’d spread the PB on, sprinkle the cinnamon, and stuff our faces. Every. Day.

When I was searching out recipes for this post, I started craving the PB/Banana goodness. Without time to bake something up (yet… it’s on my to do list!). I went with the classic PB/Banana sandwich. Remember those?

But, I added my beloved cinnamon, a drizzle of honey and fried it up like a grilled cheese. Heat + PB = Ooey Gooey Goodness.

This grilled peanut butter and banana sandwich looks delicious!

Peanut Butter and Banana Grilled Sandwich

1 Banana, sliced into rings
2 Pieces of bread (healthy it up for breakfast and use whole grain)
Cinnamon
Honey
Butter (Or Olive Oil Margerine, if you’re dairy free)

Heat up your fry pan and spread a thin layer of peanut butter on both pieces of bread. Sprinkle cinnamon over that peanut butter, then lay out the slices of banana. Drizzle some honey over top before closing up your sandwich. Spread your butter on the outsides of the sandwich and grill it up! I loved this… hopefully you will too!

Whip one up (or two… I did) and celebrate with me!

Make this? I’d love to see! Tag me @colleenpastoor on social.

The recipe above does not state pb. How much pb or nut butter should we use?

Hi Cathleen, I just used Kraft Smooth but you could use any kind you like and I just spread as much as I like on my toast- it’s all up to preference!
